Flying Lessons

What is flying all about?

Exploration, adventure, discovery. By obtaining your private pilot license you will have access to rental airplanes and thousands of airports all over the United States. You can experience lifelong memories and new friendships.

San Diego is a fun and scenic location to train. You will build skills and confidence to adapt to flying at any other locations.

Freddy will be your personal flight instructor with skills, insight, and tact to help you achieve your aviation goals.

Flying With Freddy focuses on primary flight training for beginning pilots. Refresher flights, local familiarization flights, and flight reviews are available to certificated pilots.

For new students, every journey begins with a discovery flight, a 1 hour lesson to experience a routine and scenic flight and ensure the student enjoys the experience and wants to continue training.

If the student chooses to proceed with flight training, the instructor will provide guidance on the required administrative steps within the FAA system to ensure smooth and timely progress.

The instructor and student will fly together, practicing basic aircraft control and emergency procedures. When the instructor judges the student is ready, he/she will be approved to fly solo in the local airport environment. Afterwards, the student will train in cross country flying (50+ miles away from the student’s home airport) and will eventually also fly solo cross country. The student will prepare for the practical test (check ride) and after passing the test, he/she will receive a private pilot license that allows full privileges to fly anywhere in the country with passengers for pleasure.

This training program falls under Part 61 of the FAA regulations, which allows maximum flexibility and customized lessons for the students at their convenience and leisure. It is not intended to be a career oriented program, but will definitely help aspiring professional pilots accomplish a crucial first step towards an aviation career.

U.S. citizens can immediately begin flight training upon proof of citizenship. Permanent residents (green card holders) and residents on a valid student or work visa can also participate in flight training after obtaining approval from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). First time discovery flights do not require this procedure.
